It’s almost the most wonderful time of year in St. Barths: holiday season. While there’s never a bad time to visit the idyllic island, there are many exciting events that await you now through the end of the year. Le Sereno is excited to welcome back guests as they explore the hotel and the island’s many happenings this winter.
While St. Barths was open to travelers last year, the island is finally getting back into the swing of things after more than a year of uncertainty with the return of the highly anticipated annual St. Barth Gourmet Festival, as well as new offerings at Le Sereno.
Eat Your Heart Out
The St. Barth Gourmet Festival is back November 10 through 14. After a hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic, the festival is returning with 10 internationally renowned chefs to create delectable dishes that incorporate global flavors and celebrate the lively spirit of St. Barths. Chef Juan Arbelaez will also be the guest chef in residence at Le Sereno Hotel St. Barths, where he will create beautiful dishes including red tuna with mezcal aguachil, lime, and cilantro; crispy chicken brioche with caviar, suero, and seaweed cream; spaghetti with pistachio butter and marinated radish; Pizzaiola-style cox; and vanilla vacherin with mandarin ice cream and basil. Chef Arbelaez owns 14 restaurants in Paris.
Other hotels and restaurants also participating include Hotel Christopher, Le Tamarin, Nikki Beach, Hôtel Barrière Le Carl Gustaf, Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle De France, La Petite Plage, Hotel Manapany, Zion and L’Esprit. Guest chefs include those from Michelin-starred restaurants around the world with award-winning dishes. This year will be one to remember.
What’s New at Le Sereno Hotel St. Barths
With its pristine location on Grand Cul-de-Sac, Le Sereno benefits as one of the most beautiful hotels on the island. Ahead of the 2021/2022 season, the hotel debuts Suites Piscine, a new collection of suites perfect for families or small groups. Suites Piscine have the option to be combined with the Bungalow Piscine for the ultimate experience. This new collection also features its own private 10-meter pool, identical to Le Sereno’s main pool, only smaller, for private enjoyment.
In addition, guests staying in these suites will have a private wooden deck with Christian Liaigre furniture; an elegant outdoor living room overlooking the natural marine reserve; interiors with design details like oak ceilings; Crema Luna white stone from Carrara, Italy; and a stunning neutral color palette.
This season, Ristorante Al Mare will debut delicious new cocktails and bites with the team from sister property Il Sereno in Lake Como, Italy at its open-air dining room on the ocean. The menu will include Italian-inspired bites with local ingredients, like cucumber gazpacho with mahi-mahi, spaghetti with local lobster, and fresh seafood and meat dishes. Guests can also get a taste of Lake Como in St. Barths with the addition of Il Sereno’s famous Pistachio Pasta, the most popular menu item at the Michelin-starred restaurant in Italy.
The hotel is also debuting its new beachfront extension Plage, a beachside seating area furnished by Patricia Urquiola. Enjoy live music here once a week under the light of the moon with a drink from the new and delicious cocktail menu. The new menu features both cocktails and mocktails with local produce such as mango, passion fruit, coconut, and aloe vera.
The St. Barths Experience
Additionally, Le Sereno’s prime location on the island’s premier marine reserve is enhanced with a variety of watersports, fitness, and yoga classes. The hotel has access to 600 feet of the marine reserve, a lagoon with shallow and calm waters, which are perfect for snorkeling and swimming. There’s no better location in St. Barths to get a front-row view of the beautiful and colorful wildlife that inhabits the island.
Preserving wildlife and lessening its ecological footprint is important to the hotel, which is why they are introducing new sustainability features like solar panels, lighting and insulation to help reduce consumption, and new water systems that allow the hotel to desalinate ocean water and use it within the hotel.
Of course, wellness is also a pillar of the Le Sereno experience, and the concierge team can organize guided hikes on all corners of the island, as well as prepare fresh, healthy juices to boost your immune system and give you energy during your time on the island.
