The seasonal reopening of Il Sereno on Italy’s beautiful Lake Como comes with several new offerings and an exciting season ahead.

March 24 marks the seasonal reopening of Italy’s #1 hotel and resort, a prestigious honor by Travel + Leisure’s 2021 World’s Best Awards. Il Sereno is anticipating the return of loyal guests and new faces to enjoy its myriad offerings. You can still expect continued five-star suites, service and amenities. However, there are several additions that are helping to set a new standard of luxury in this pristine region.

New Menu Offerings at Ristorante Il Sereno Al Lago

Il Sereno will welcome back Executive Chef Raffaele Lenzi for the fifth consecutive year to the hotel’s lakefront restaurant, Ristorante Il Sereno Al Lago. Chef Lenzi is widely known for his use of nutritious vegetables and homegrown herbs. This season he will continue to serve his iconic modern cuisine with influences from Italy and around the world. The Chef will no doubt introduce some exciting new dishes, perhaps inspired by his most recent stint at the hotel’s sister property, Le Sereno in St. Barths.

Botanical Cocktail and Mocktail Menu

Il Sereno Lobby Bar has an exciting new cocktail menu, which now features an extensive selection of mocktails, inspired by the hotel’s vertical botanical garden from botanist Patrick Blanc. The drinks feature herbs and flowers from the Chef’s garden that will be paired with the restaurant’s tasting menus. The menu also reflects the seasonality of the herbs as well the sustainable, no-waste approach created by the mixologists.

Europe’s First-Ever Shoppable Penthouse Suite

Il Sereno is no stranger to incredible interior design, so it comes as no surprise that its new penthouse suite is one of the top in all of Italy. The suite was designed by renowned Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, who also designed the rest of the hotel. What’s unique about the penthouse is that all of the furnishings are available to purchase. Designed in a modernist Italian style, this accommodation reflects post-war Italian glamour. Guests can expect fashion-inspired textures, like fabrics reminiscent of 1950s scarf fashion and landscape motifs of Lake Como. Guests can purchase bespoke furniture designed by Urquiola herself, as well as collectors-worthy armchairs and bookcases. Urquiola worked with Italian designers and furniture makers to design one of the most stylish penthouses in all of Italy. The suite was designed with natural materials, like Canaletto walnut wooden ceilings, Verde Alpi stone walls, and Ceppo di Gre and venetian terrazzo floors. Of course, views of the lake take center stage with the large windows perfectly framing the water and mountain scenery.

Welcoming Back the Inglesina Boat

Il Sereno is excited to welcome back Inglesina, a rowing boat built on Lake Como in the 1930s that has been on Lake Varese in St. Moritz for nearly a century. Guests can now book boating experiences on this iconic rowing boat, including a handmade picnic by Chef Lenzi. It’s the perfect excursion with your loved one to experience the serene beauty of the lake.

Spa at Il Sereno

Spa Additions at Il Sereno SPA

The SPA introduces ‘Rejuvenation by the Lake,’ an exfoliant treatment using products from the Como region. These products include an olive oil made specially for Il Sereno and locally grown lavender. The relaxing body treatment is calming and hydrating. However, the real highlight is enjoying the outdoor relaxation area before or after your treatment. You can’t get closer to Lake Como’s enchanting nature than here. The area features a 60-foot freshwater infinity pool suspended over the lake. A tranquil indoor area, also designed by Urquiola, with a sauna and steam room is included as well.

Lake Como in spring

Easter at Il Sereno

With the arrival of spring, we invite guests to celebrate Easter on the shores of Lake Como. In honor of this beloved holiday, Ristorante Il Sereno Al Lago will offer an exclusive multi-course menu specially curated for the occasion. Savor homemade cod ravioli or tender lamb shoulder with artichoke while admiring vibrant bursts of blooming wildflowers peppering the Italian hillside.
